BA 1099: PACE Leader

The transition from high school into college can be as daunting as it is exciting, and it certainly was that way for me too. But what makes that journey as a freshman a little more bearable and easy, is the support of those around you, especially other students.

When I first came to UC in 2021, I found a great mentor in my PACE Leader. He was someone who helped connect me with new opportunities, build communication skills as I navigated conflicts, as well as provided encouragement and support whenever I needed it. Hence, when I was looking to apply for on-campus positions for Spring 2024, I had no doubt that I wanted my position to be so impactful, that through my work I could prove to be a positive force in another Bearcat's life.

After an extremely competitive hiring process that tested both, my commitment to student success as well as my willingness to adapt to different people and situations, I was elated when I was offered the role of PACE Leader for the Business Honors Freshman class.

During the semester my PACE group was tasked to work on “Project Impact”, a project focusing on creating actionable steps for a smaller business to grow, and create lasting impact through application of business concepts to introduce within the company’s strategy. The company that my students worked on was called “Eleeo”. A big part of my role was to learn from my prior experience with similar projects and drive the students toward success while making sure they are learning as much as possible. The semester was filled with company visits, executive interactions, as well as brainstorming and team work sessions. Another part of my role was checking in on my students to make sure they were staying on track as well as navigating the college environment well. This comprised of semester check-ins as well as staying up to date on their personal and professional endeavors. All of these efforts, as well as a strategic plan of actions led to us having a successful semester with everyone praising the presentation as well as the student's efforts! Attached below is a photo of their presentation for 'Project Impact'.
